Frequently Asked Questions

These are some of the questions we get asked all the time about water softener systems. If you have any questions for us, please give us a call and we will be happy to help.

Why does my water taste salty?

Chloride Ions in High Concentration

This is a problem if your water contains a lot of chlorine ions. This could be untreated ocean water. The EPA has limited the amount of chlorine ions in public water systems. The issue is that this isn’t strictly regulated for reasons we can only guess. If you have high chloride ion concentrations, you must treat the issue.

A High Sulfate Concentration

Salty tap water is caused by two sulfates: sodium sulfate and magnesium sulfate. Both substances give water a terrible salty taste and act as laxatives, causing stomach cramps and diarrhea.

A Problem with the Water Softener

Your ion exchange water softener may be the source of the salty water taste. A defective water softener can release salt into the water. Changing the settings usually fixes problems, but sometimes a simple repair is required.

What are the signs of hard water?

A strange odor or taste in your water is usually the first sign of a water conditioning issue. Hard water or bacterial contamination causes this.

You often scrub your shower to remove soap scum.

Because hard water has a difficult time dissolving shampoos, soaps, and detergents, those bathing essentials usually stick to tile and porcelain surfaces rather than being wiped away. As a result, a sticky deposit accumulates within the shower, dulling the walls and coating the door in a thick film.

Your pipes are constantly clogged.

Scale deposits accumulate inside your pipes, similar to plaque in an artery, restricting water flow and eventually resulting in blockages and the need to call a plumber for assistance.

What’s the process of water softener installation?

Water softener installation is something that you can perform on your own if you have prior installation experience and are a reasonably competent person. In that situation, it may be in your best advantage to perform the task yourself.

Our team has a substantial amount of training and expertise. When you hire us to install your water softener, you reduce the likelihood of it or another component of your plumbing system breaking.

Water Softener Systems We Offer:

Hellenbrand water softeners can give you a long-lasting solution. Skin that is softer, itch-free, and hair that is more manageable as well as detergents, shampoos, and soaps that lather better.

Towels and garments that are more vibrant and softer are other benefits of our water softener systems. Dishes and glasses that are spotless and fixtures that are cleaner and sinks, tubs, and showers that are stain-free. Also, your appliances and fixtures will have a longer life.

Single Tank vs Dual Tank Water Softener: Which is Better?

If you’re buying a water softener, you’ll have to choose between a single and dual-tank system. Over the years, our company has sold both versions, so let us compare them and explain which option is best for your home.

Single Tank Water Softener

A single-tank system offers many benefits, including:

  • They are less expensive

  • Requires less space to be installed

  • Good efficiency

  • Relatively even water quality

As for the downsides, a single-tank softener cannot supply soft water during regeneration. Many of our customers are happy with single-tank systems. However, many people want something better and more efficient. For those customers, dual tank systems are the best option.

Dual-Tank Water Softener

Dual tanks guarantee consistent soft water throughout the entire day. They have two tanks so that one can regenerate while the other is in use.

  • 24/7 soft water with no downtime

  • Regenerates with soft water, which helps resin last longer

  • More consistent water quality

  • Maximum efficiency for less water and salt waste

Even though they are slightly more expensive than single-tank systems, dual-tank systems have several distinct advantages.

Reverse Osmosis Water Systems

Reverse Osmosis filtration is an energy efficient method of cleaning your water that removes organic material as well as bad tastes and smells caused by sulphur and other minerals.

Reverse osmosis used throughout the house eliminates practically all pollutants, including sodium, calcium, potassium, iron, zinc, lead, arsenic, magnesium, fluoride, manganese, cyanide, chloride as well as microorganisms and other chemicals.

Whole House Reverse Osmosis

A whole house reverse osmosis is a system that filters all of your home’s water. It treats every drop of water that enters your home, from your drinking water at the kitchen sink to the water you use to shave, bath, and clean your toilets.

Point-of-Use Reverse Osmosis

One of the most effective ways to remove contaminants from drinking water is to use an under-the-sink RO filter. It outperforms standard water filters in terms of efficiency and also improves the smell and flavor of your drinking water.

Reverse Osmosis Systems We Offer:

Our Millennium Drinking Water System is designed on time-tested technology and delivers unrivaled performance. You receive good hydration without the contaminants found in most residential tap water. Through reverse osmosis filtration, the 3MTM Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water Filtration System contributes to the provision of cleaner, better-tasting water.

Multiple-stage filtration is provided by the 3MRO401, which includes separate sediment and chlorine taste and odor filters for optimal membrane module protection, a hygienic, encapsulated reverse osmosis membrane, and a carbon block post-filter for enhanced flow from a dedicated faucet.

Iron Filtration Systems

Range Water Conditioning got its name by providing clean water on the Iron Range in Northern Minnesota. Our Iron Filtration Systems remove iron as well as manganese and sulfur from your water making it safe and clean to drink. This means no more rotten egg smell or rust stains. A common side-effect of high iron or manganese levels is bacteria residue that builds up and can clog your water well, pipes, and appliances. The cost savings of replacing these things often pays for the system itself.

Iron Filtration Systems We Offer:

Our lives, our houses, and the environment are all in perfect balance and harmony with Hellenbrand-treated water. Water brings health and vitality to your family when using Hellenbrand systems.

Lead Removal

Lead in water is a serious environmental issue that poses significant health risks to humans. This toxic metal can find its way into drinking water through various sources, with the most common being the corrosion of lead-containing pipes and plumbing fixtures.

Lead is a potent neurotoxin, particularly harmful to children and pregnant women. Even low levels of lead exposure can lead to irreversible and long-term health problems. In children, lead poisoning can cause developmental delays, learning disabilities, decreased IQ, and behavioural issues. In adults, it can lead to high blood pressure, kidney problems, and fertility issues.

Choose our water solutions to confidently eliminate lead contamination from your drinking water and enjoy safe, clean, and healthy hydration.
